Interlibrary loan (ILL) is a free service for obtaining materials that are not available in our library system. We can request books, movies, music, and more from libraries across Wisconsin on behalf of our patrons.
How does it work?
First, check the catalog for the material you are looking for. If is not owned by any of the libraries in our system, or if all copies are lost, damaged, or not in circulation, you may request an interlibrary loan.
Next, fill out the form online and we will do our best to find and request the material for you through WISCAT, and will notify you regarding the status of your request within 7 business days. If the request is successful, you will receive a second notification when it is available for pickup at the library.
A few things to keep in mind:
- Interlibrary loans must be picked up from and returned to the Boyceville Public Library.
- Delivery times for interlibrary loans are generally longer than loans sent within our library system, and may take 2-3 weeks to arrive from the time an ILL request is accepted; we cannot fulfill requests to a deadline.
- Loan periods and due dates are set by the owning library. Renewing an interlibrary loan is sometimes possible, but renewals are granted or declined solely by the owning library. If you would like us to request a renewal, please contact the Boyceville Public Library at least 3 business days before it is due to allow enough to time for staff to contact the owning library and receive a reply.
- Fees for lost or damaged items are set and billed by the owning library.
- Material that has been published or released within the past six months is not available for interlibrary loan.
